Kathryn (Katie) has a bachelor's degree in Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies with a double minor in American Sign Language and History from Carleton University. In addition, Katie has a graduate certificate from the Communication Disorders Assistant program at St.Lawrence College and is registered under the Communicative Disorders Assistant Association of Canada (CDAAC). During this program Katie also completed the Registered Behaviour Technician training. With a range of experiences from working in the inclusive recreation department at the City of Ottawa Katie has worked with a wide range of clients of all abilities and ages. In addition to this Katie has also has experience working with Emerging Minds, a therapy centre for children with Autism.
At the City of Ottawa Katie worked as an Instructor Special Needs where she implemented and led a variety of programs for clients of many different abilities. These programs include a social recreation program for children and teens with Autism, a recreation therapy program for medically fragile children and integration support programs for children with Autism. As part of the Communication Disorders Assistant program Katie completed her placement at Emerging Minds, a therapy centre for children with Autism that utilizes the play based therapies in order to ensure skill acquisition. After living in Ottawa Katie, reached out to Erin and Eve to join TWO CAN TALK to grow as a clinician in the Toronto area.
